The disconnect issues appears to be the same as all the other 2.4GHz vs 5GHz wifi issues. Perhaps desktop mode does not use this, and that's why it was also a solution?Ģ. The freezing video while retaining input and sound appears to be solved by disabling the hardware decoding option in the remote play settings. Since then I think I've narrowed this all down to two separate problems:ġ. The only way to resolve the issue was to restart my steam deck completely. But every time steam would display the connection error, it would mention that I had wifi but no internet connection. I was still losing connection every so often, sometimes I could play for 30 mins, others only 5mins. So after further playing I've discovered using Desktop mode has not completely solved all my issues. Testing done with Red Dead Redemption Online and Age of Empire 2: HD Edition.Ģ.) Note that "Wifi Power Management" was disabled prior to switching to desktop. It plays completely flawless with only some minor video resolution drops, which I assume are normal. I have found that switching my Deck to desktop mode, then launching Remote Play from there does not result in any freezing or lag. Connecting to either, or disabling the developer option for "Wifi Power Management" made no difference. Originally I thought this was related to other reported issues regarding 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz WIFI. It appears to eventually unfreeze for 15+ seconds to only re-freeze again. The video will freeze for 30+ seconds while the audio and input continues. Attempting to use Remote Play / In Home Streaming across WIFI from my Steam Deck results in constant freezing and video lag.
